Day 47 - Stone Mountain, GA to Greensboro, GA 92 miles, 5:40

My first day riding with brothers Chris and Winston was a welcome change. The ministry remains the same, only now, we can touch more people, working together.

The route out of of Atlanta into central Georgia was just outstanding. And as we rode from small town to small town, I was reminded of a "thought for the day" that I didn't get a chance to write about while I was out West.

It's water towers.

When you are riding through - let's say Kansas - some 25 to 40 miles between towns, the water towers are your first evidence of human life. They are usually the tallest things on the horizon and for me, they were always a welcome sight.

But, they are a lot more than that. They are a life source for a whole community. Without them, folks would either find water elsewhere or die.

We need water to live in this life. We need Christ to live eternally.

When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, "Will you give me a drink?" (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

The Samaritan woman said to him, "You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?" (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water."

"Sir," the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?"

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 4:7-14 (NIV)

Note: Our friends at the Christian Contractors Association use "Living Water" as a ministry for relief and outreach efforts. Please contact them to get some bottled water with a message of Good News.
